10 Reasons to Use the Public Library

I am very excited about this topic. I have worked at my local public library for 10 years! It has been my very favorite job and I have had many, ice cream scooper, pizza maker, bank teller and county employee, but library assistant has been the best!

  1. Your public library has 1000's of resources available for free! In this economy the more fun things you can find to do with your family for free the better!
  2. Not only can you come check out a good book, but you can get a newly released DVD, an audio book, a Playaway, a video game, tax forms, copies, faxes, notary public, concerts, family movie night, a free book for you NOOK, story time for the little ones so many things.
  3. The people at the library are the best, their main goal is to find you something good to read, what a great job!
  4. When you walk in the door, you are transported, to a quieter place, a calmer place, a place where all that laundry waiting to be done...just doesn't matter.
  5. You can sit and read the paper, any paper, even The New York Times if that is what you want.
  6. It's the only place you can walk into and say, "I found the weirdest looking frog in my backyard! Can you tell me what it is?" and they will tell you.
  7. When you want to spoil your little ones, but just don't have that extra money this week. You can take them to the library, cuddle up in a beanbag and read them a story. They will think you are the moon and the stars ♥
  8. You can use the Internet or a wifi connection, for free.
  9. You can research you family history and find out you might be related to a king or a murderer.
  10. You can learn a new language, get help with your homework or just find the next best thing for you to read!
Make sure you go visit your library and maybe you will see me!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

  1. Birthdays - I am 42 and I still love a fuss for my birthday. The only thing I like more is to make a fuss for someone else.  My baby turns 14 today, but we have been celebrating since Friday. A house full of giggling, sugar charged girls, a quiet day with the cute boyfriend and a movie and a big gathering of family. Tonight her father and I will spoil her with dinner at her favorite restaurant and lots of presents. I wish it was her 1st birthday all over again ♥
  2. Knitting - I have three pregnant people all due about the same time that require a knitted gift. One is a teacher who has made a huge difference in my daughter's life. One is a distant family member that a barely know. The third and final one is another family member, by marriage, that is not my favorite person. I have three projects going and I can't seem to really get into any of them. I hate knitting like this, it just seems a waste.
  3. Biggest Loser - I just finished a 6 week BL contest at work and I lost and gained the same 3 pounds each week. I ended up right where I started. My husband starts one at work next Monday and I am going to try again while he is doing it. It is always easier when he is dieting too, because I don't have to make fattening dinners and desserts. Summer is coming and the prospect of me in shorts is motivational.
Have a great week!!

10 Reasons To Be Glad It's Spring

1. I have reached my limit in winter weight gain. I need Spring and long, light evenings out in the yard instead of in my chair with my knitting.
2. Camping! I have been booking campsites for the summer since January...I can't wait much longer.
3. Vegetable gardening is in my mind and I am anxious to plant my early spring lettuce and other delicious greens.
4. Summer, because it's coming you know...
5. Hot dogs on the grill, with pickles and chips.
6. Mowing, I love to mow the lawn with my iPod in my ears and singing as loud as I can (to the delight of my neighbors)
7. Long walks around the block after dinner ♥
8. Easter dinner by the creek with friends.
9. My beautiful baby's fourteenth birthday.
10. Another long season of sun is coming!!!

Only 10 years to go…

2555290037_8390d37474_o

This sweet baby will be fourteen in a few weeks. Don’t let that dimple fool you, she is a teenager through and through.

I have gone from her favorite cuddlier, story teller & boo boo kisser to the dumbest woman on the planet.

The idea that I might know if an outfit looks good or not, is absurd.

Any suggestion I make is immediately vetoed.

But, the handing out of money and the chauffeuring of above mentioned princess is definitely allowed.

I only hope I can make it through the next ten years, until she comes around again and I become that one person, above everyone, that she loves.

Miscellany Monday

monday

{1}  Japan – Who can not think about this. The devastation and loss of life terrifies me. I truly can’t even imagine. I just want to hold the ones I love.

{2}  Mud – The mess I see outside seems so much easier to deal with after I see the horrible images on the news.

{3}  Food – I am losing weight and watching what I eat. While I sit and pick over all my options, adding up points in my head I stop and am grateful. What if all I had to eat was dirty and warm and when it was gone I didn’t know where I’d get more.

{4} Dust – I sit and look out my grimy windows with their dusty sills and I know I am blessed.

Top 2 Things You've Learned About Relationships

1. I have learned that they are not always what you thought they would be, but maybe they can be better. Heartache and disappointment sometimes opens the door tho reall communication and growth. It may not be your fairy tale, but that doesn't mean it won't have a happy ending.

2. That connection is what we need to go on. A smile from a friend or a hug from your daughter or a note left by your husband saying he is thinking of you is all that might stop you from really giving up.

Top 2 Things you've learned about money

1. It sucks the life out of you…If you don’t have enough of it, you worry and worry about how you will pay the bills. How will you keep your house and pay for those braces? What if the furnace dies or the car needs work? What will you do about the late notices and the calls?

2. You want it even though it won’t make you happy…You smile and say, “I would never want to win the lottery. All that money would be a burden!”, but you keep buying a ticket.
